Natural selection is... a river between two farms.
One shall wash away and leave his neighbor without harm,
Depending upon how well each one has tended to the soil -
The way that each has nourished roots with blood and sweaty toil.
But sometimes, in its unforgiving drive for balance, nature
Defies all karma and both farms still lose all they wager.
Erosion -Marcus Maneval
Winds upon the dune; tides upon the shore;
Time upon me, eroding forevermore.
Winter grew deep roots in me before my leaves turn'd autumn.
They rot, returning to the Earth, before their age of aurum.
The forest has grown thick with thorns, enshrouding all the path.
The scenery transmutes and I don't recognize the strath.
The wolves have escaped my nightmares to pursue me through the day.
They push me to the ocean's edge, converging on their prey.
My gaze falls over the horizon, so I turn to face my foes.
Their faces morph into true form. They are none but my woes.
Each I know all too well. I've named them, eve
The Garden
written by - Marcus Maneval
I walk through the garden of shadow and cold
Where the scent of death weighs on the air
And it's residents revel in what darkness they hold
For they are alone, only solitude do they share
I walk through the garden of the never-rising sun
Vanquished by turmoil, it rises nevermore
The senders of blackhearts know not what they've done
And we shall ever-remember the scars of yore
I walk through the garden of frostbitten soil
I watch as red is turned to black within veins
I watch as black murders spirit with turmoil
Smiles we need no longer feign
I walk through the garden of valiance now tame
I

And You Wonder Why /// written by - Marcus Maneval
I ask you now, what weapons have I left
All have been blunted, meaning bereft
Lifeless wood has failed me this time
I've failed to use it's beautiful chime
I'll count my blessings, it won't take long
How could such a passion be so wrong?
This warm-nature is doomed to the cold
For years I have watched all this unfold
In too many bloody wars, I've learned this
We'll all die trying for bliss
Turning our expectations into failures
Ignore my goals and expect me to avail yours
So bring on hipocrisy, and downward glances
Bring on the vacancy of second chances
Give me just enough t
Nemesis Everlast /// written by - Marcus Maneval
I am at home only in these words
And yet they are ever-changing and unstable
But in this soul, they strike deeper chords
For this heart is wreckless, with true home but a fable
Even the most resiliant take blows they can't afford
And resiliant I am, yet my heart lie disabled
I swear lucifer hath sent a demon into my past
To murder my love in it's vulnerable state
My savior of yore became nemesis everlast
What irony is this! with a name change of hate?
A mother to guide with sure sails and strong mast
Saved me, she had, but I fear too late
A crippling peice of innocence destroye

The Thorn Of The Rose
The Thorn of the Rose /// Written by - Marcus Maneval
If thou wouldst name thyself the fairest,
The fairest of all blooms yet caressed,
I'd riot in the streets in disbelief
'Til thy daft words hear a retrieve.
Compare not divinity to worldly mire,
For ne'er afore for a muse to inspire
Has such ease been taken than for thee.
Lately, I revel not in serenity,
For a lifeless lieu remains at my side.
Fulfill it like a knot for my life untied.
This baleful control is driven yet.
In these words, find ground to not fret.
Hope imparts new life to trails
Blazed by a virulent tongue that avails
The arson of buds, still youthful and s
Lose heart not /// written by - Marcus Maneval
A dire fear has cast it's hand
Upon my heart in it's hopeful land
The fear that perfection requires two
And only but one shall try to do
What the other has lost the will to attempt
Frightened by the face of scornful contempt
Be ye afraid of this daunting foe?
This courier of darkness, pain and woe?
Shadow must die for light to live
For our light, there's little I wouldn't give
I've seen something rare, a hopeful flare
That for, I must dare, to tread a dark lair
I hope my efforts are not in vain
That there is shelter from the rain
That this life CAN be set right
And your love

A Prayer For Resurrection
Written By - Marcus Maneval
Struck to the ground, I lay bleeding
With nothing to think but my heart's seething
It pushes through my chest in retaliation
But cannot escape this realization
That all things to come seem so bleak
And the blade of these events has left body so meek
The match had been met, the companion found
The search finally over, fulfillment profound.
The answer was clear, and all seemed at peace
But all was destroyed in a single caprice
Hearts idly beat, and breaths idly draw
But How rarely we really live is our flaw
If only the world would allow us some time
To live in freedom without
The End Of All /// written by - Marcus Maneval
Here at the end of all
When it all comes crashing down
We shall arise, and sift through the wreckage
In the valley of light, scorched by battle
(Chorus) - So is this all that remains
Tainted blades and rusted chains
Loss of life under a blackened sky
Tonight the very earth shall cry
We walk through the embers, stirring the dead
We walk amongst rounds of bloody lead
We walk where many before have tread
But never again
(Chorus) - So is this all that remains
Tainted blades and rusted chains
Immortal Chill /// written by - Marcus Maneval
You are the shackles that bind my legs
You are the blade that awaits and begs
You are the chain that sets limitation
You are the night of sleep deprivation
These are all the kind of immortal ties
That form the summation of my demise
You are the paradise that only so seems
You are the wraith that torments my dreams
You are the nail that stalks my bare feet
You are the air with a penetrating cold
It pierces my defense, and drains the last heat
But the air be not as cold, as my throat in your grip's hold
And with all this of you, then what be of me?
Can I not be the flame that warm
